Nicole Adams is a licensed massage therapist and founder of Sophrosyne, [suh-fros-uh-nee]. Sophrosyne is an ancient Greek concept meaning a healthy state of mind, characterized by self-control, moderation, and a deep awareness of one’s true self, and resulting in true happiness.
Meeting every client's needs in an attentive and caring way, Nicole’s approach to massage therapy is holistic with special attention focused on the concerns of each client. Nicole uses firm and fluid techniques in her massages to promote both a sense of relaxation while ensuring an effective approach to treatment.
Transferring skills honed over 20 years in corporate real estate such as listening to an individual’s spoken words and attentively observing body language, Nicole easily harnesses this information to incorporate into a massage that addresses each issue specifically raised by the client and as a step further locate trigger points within the body to relax muscles, stretch joints and increase flexibility. By mastering skills forged at Cortiva Institute in Chicago and certified by the State of Illinois she is able to treat athletes to retirees and all points in-between.
Nicole believes in life-long learning and continues to refine her skills and build new ones. Her first specialization was in prenatal therapy. Her more recent specializations include body trigger points and myofascial (a muscle’s outer skin) release. Additionally, she can integrate essential oils with each treatment which allow aromatherapy to amplify the benefits of massage therapy.
